Siren Camera presented at ICAST 2019

July 18, 2019

The Siren Cameras team made the trip to Orlando, Florida last week to show over 15,000 excited recreational fishing retailers and exhibitors what we believe is a very unique product. With the team now back in Brisbane reflecting on a busy few days (the exhibition was shown over 9th-12th July), Co-founder Calum McPherson said the reception for the camera concept couldn’t have been better, “We felt strongly going to the exhibition that we were able to offer something different with our Siren Camera but the enthusiasm and excitement shown by the show attendees surprised even us! We set-up water tanks to demonstrate how the camera behaves when it slides down the line and hits the surface, and that captivated everyone who attended our modest display booth!" Over the duration of the exhibition the team mingled with a huge variety of businesses from industry leaders such as Shimano and Diawa all the way through to small enterprises just starting out. "There is no doubt that the ICAST exhibition is the world leader showing recreational fishing innovation and the range of products is staggering. It demonstrates clearly how passionate and vast the market is, but more-so for Siren Cameras, we were able to compete with those levels of innovation and generate a very high level of excitement. Thats really satisfying for us and it's simply increased confidence further in regards to offering a product that people can’t wait to use, particularly social media influencers and those who desire cutting edge video content”, said Adrian Moriconi, Siren Cameras Media Manager. The team are now preparing to exhibit at the the 2019 AFTA Trade Show which will be held from the 15th to the 17th of August at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Australia – mark your calendar and make plans to be there if you want to see the Siren Camera in action!

Intellectual property progress

May 10, 2019

We are delighted to announce a valuable step forward this week with the Australian Patent Office acceptance of our National phase Intellectual Property (IP) claims. Over the past two years the business has steadily progressed its legal position with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) submission milestone being successfully achieved in 2018 - commencing ‘enforceable right' IP protection in over 150 countries - before this weeks celebrated a milestone of National (Australian) phase protection. Co-founder Phil West said the business will soon progress National phase IP protection to other countries, “This weeks patent breakthrough is great news and only enhances our drive to produce something totally unique for the recreational fishing market. First and foremost we really just want to create something fun and exciting, but at the same time we know the Siren concept is unique, which the patent news confirms, so it's only right that we diligently protect our idea. Award of the Australian national patent gives us 20 years protection over our IP which is important underpinning for a small startup company like ours trying to get something off the ground from scratch. We really understand our market and the countries where Siren will appeal most - so thats where we’ll continue to build on the overarching PCT rights we already have, and develop the National phase applications further in those locations.” The IP owned by Siren Cameras Pty Ltd is managed by leading intellectual property firm Spruson & Ferguson. Established in 1887, Spruson & Ferguson is one of the largest intellectual property (IP) service providers in Asia-Pacific. "Spruson and Ferguson have been fantastic and really guided us through a minefield of legal IP jargon. It feels very reassuring to have such professional legal representation in our corner and a patent now on the shelf as we push on with making Siren a reality”, Phil concluded. If you would like to know any more about the Siren patent status, please make contact through the communication options available throughout the website. ‍

Siren to be displayed at Icast 2019!

March 15, 2019

The team at Siren Cameras Pty Ltd were delighted to receive approval this week to demo the Siren fishing camera at Icast 2019 - the world largest sport fishing trade show to be held July 9-12 at the Orange County Convention Centre, Orlando, Florida. Icast is the premier global showcase for latest innovations in fishing gear, accessories and apparel - https://www.icastfishing.orgThe exhibition is the cornerstone of the sportfishing industry, helping to drive recreational fishing product sales year round, and Siren co-founder Calum McPherson has this to say, “its so exciting to get such an opportunity to show the industry what we’ve been working on over the last 2 years. If there is ever an event to verify Siren appeal, this is it! The size of the Icast exhibition, passion of the crowd, and organisation involved sets this exhibition apart and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be part of it. With the team eagerly preparing for the event, Siren media manager Adrian Moriconi, who will also attend the event, can’t wait to show the Icast audience how the fishing camera is delivering never seen before footage, “being a media person I work with visuals a lot, but the footage the Siren camera has given me to create impactful advertisement material is something totally fresh, different and new. Its been great to watch the product evolve and the effort involved with making this idea come alive, and I can’t wait to finally show a large engaged crowd what it can do for them when they’re out there on the water.”In its 62nd year, the 2019 International Convention of Allied Sportfishing Trades (ICAST) Show is expected to again exceed year-on-year attendance records. Figures released by the American Sportfishing Association (ASA) has revealed that more than 15,000 visitors – a show record – attended the 2018 event. “This is a fantastic week for the sport fishing industry,” said Glenn Hughes, President of the ASA, which owns the event. “Going hand-in-hand with increased participation is the tremendous coverage across all social media channels of the products only found at ICAST. This is great exposure for our exhibitors and for anglers eagerly looking for new products to enhance their fishing experience. Ultimately, this event is all about showcasing the gear, apparel and accessories that help to make a day on the water both exciting and rewarding.”With the Siren fishing camera designed precisely to support and enhance the enjoyment of recreational fishing experiences, Siren co-founder Phil West couldn’t think of a better way to introduce the product to the market, “we’ll go to the States and put our best foot forward. Although Siren still requires some minor electronic modifications to get it Production ready, now is the time for us to stand behind our product and let others tell us what they think of it”.Throughout the 2019 Icast exhibition, the Siren Cameras booth will be located with the South Hall Exhibit level at booth 4635. How Siren came about!

December 14, 2018

Siren Cameras Pty Ltd co-founder Phil West, having been brought-up on the Scottish coastline, has long held a passion for fishing both recreationally and commercially. In fact, his family heritage is based on and around the fishing industry in Scotland. When Phil moved to Australia over 7 years ago, recreational fishing in these new waters was a completely different ball-game which, by his own admission, meant he spent the first few years on Australian waters not really having a clue what he was doing - only that he knew he wanted to catch some of those exotic fish only seen previously on TV!
